Claims on Extended Warranties

What are the advantages of an extended warranty? It begins when the manufacturer's warranty expires on the item in question. Every company wants to outshine the others in excellence of service. An good choice is one that gives a clear picture of what, when and how everything should be handled in case of an emergency. If you don't know the facts of how to use it, your coverage can't help you even if it is high quality coverage. You have to file a claim quickly to get the benefits.

It can occur that when you apply for a claim, it gets rejected. There are many possible reasons for rejection, like the expiration date of the policy has passed or perhaps it doesn't cover the item you are filing a claim for. You need to know your extended warranty coverage in detail. If your claim is rejected, don't panic; just think what you need to do to resolve your problem.

Relax, don't blame anyone, just demand a direct answer. A phone call or a personal visit to the company office could change a no answer into a yes. Just try to get them to understand the problems you are going through and how they should help you.

If you don't get the right answer, don't get worried, just ask for a supervisor or a higher authority within the company. The supervisor might have the authority to make an exception in your case.

If you still get no help, file a protest against the extended warranty company. This often can be done via a link on their website or you can type or write the complaint and mail it. Make sure your position is valid and not just an opinion. You should include all information needed to justify your complaint.

You may also contact the Better Business Bureau, if the warranty providers are listed on their website. Filing with the BBB has an advantage because everyone has access to their website, so often they will try to solve your problem, so the resolution will appear to show they are reliable for future customers to see.

In short, it's important to understand how the extended warranty system works. The better you understand how it works, the easier it will be to use it. If you have a proble, don't hesitate to put in a claim, and get your item repaired right away, because that is what you bought the policy for.
